Hello,
I'm Tyler Welch.
I am a junior at Southern Methodist University originally from Katy, Texas. I am a Sport Management and Journalism double major, with minors in Statistical Science and History.
At SMU, I am a Hunt Scholar and a recipient of the Blackie Sherrod Scholarship for my work in sports journalism. Throughout my time at SMU I have remained on the Honor Roll with Distinction, awarded for being in the top 10% of my class. I am heavily involved on campus, serving as the Homecoming Chair for Student Foundation, Vice President for Sports Business Society, Resident Assistant for Boaz Commons, and as an Orientation Leader.
Recently, I received the John L. Freehafer Award, an award given to approximately six SMU underclassmen annually, for my dedication to leadership and student life on campus.
I one day aspire to work in the sports field, preferably in broadcast journalism. However, I am open to testing the waters of the vast opportunities the sports world has to offer. As demonstrated by my work, I have experience in sports reporting, writing, broadcasting, commentary, videography, social media, and more.
