Hello,
I'm Tyler Welch.
I am a junior at Southern Methodist University originally from Katy, Texas. I am a Sport Management and Journalism double major, with minors in Statistical Science and History.
At SMU, I am a Hunt Scholar and a recipient of the Blackie Sherrod Scholarship as well as the Belo Foundation Scholarship for my work in sports journalism. Throughout my time at SMU I have remained on the Honor Roll, most recently being placed on the Honor Roll with High Distinction for being in the top 5% of my class. I am heavily involved on campus, serving as the Homecoming Chair for Student Foundation (soon to be Vice President of Programming), President for Sports Business Society, Resident Assistant for Boaz Commons, Sports Editor for The Daily Campus, and as an Orientation Leader.
Last Spring, I received the John L. Freehafer Award, an award given to around six SMU underclassmen annually, for my dedication to leadership and student life on campus.
I one day aspire to work in sports journalism. However, my main goal is to make an impact in the sports world anywhere I am capable of. As demonstrated by my work, I have experience in sports reporting, writing, broadcasting, commentary, videography, social media, and more.
